The Thermistor Expansion Module requires a CANdapter for programming. If you are purchasing an Orion BMS 02, your BMS kit will include a CANdapter. If you are purchasing an Orion BMS Jr. 02 with CAN your kit will not include a CANdapter and it will be necessary to purchase a CANdapter separately.

To use the Orion Thermistor Expansion Module, first, ensure you have the right parts. Connect it to the Orion Original, Orion 02 BMS, or BMS Junior Systems as per the instructions. You can connect up to 80 additional thermistors (harnesses sold separately). Multiple modules can be used together for more monitoring. It works with the Orion Battery Management System and communicates via CANBUS. Just remember, if you’re getting an Orion BMS Jr. 02 with CAN, you’ll need to buy a CANdapter separately as it doesn’t come with the kit.
